Lyrique applies to poetry that expresses personal emotion (la poésie lyrique), to opera and singing (un artiste lyrique is an opera singer), and informally to someone who becomes passionately, almost theatrically expressive. S'emballer de façon lyrique means to wax lyrical. Invariable by gender.
