Usage Note

Vaudou refers to the Afro-Caribbean religion of voodoo, which blends African spiritual traditions with elements of Catholicism and is practiced especially in Haiti. In French, both vaudou and vodou are used; the latter is the more authentic Haitian Creole spelling. It is invariable as an adjective: une cérémonie vaudou.
