Telles is the feminine plural form of tel (such, like that), used as a determiner before a noun (de telles circonstances — such circumstances) or as a pronoun. Tel quel / telle quelle means 'as is', and the formal phrase tel père, tel fils ('like father, like son') shows the singular.
