Frousse is a colloquial, informal word for fear or fright — equivalent to 'the heebie-jeebies' or 'the willies' in English. The standard expression is avoir la frousse ('to be scared'). It is feminine: une frousse. A related informal adjective is froussard(e) ('cowardly, chicken'), which is mildly pejorative.
