Usage Note
Club is borrowed from English and used for sports clubs, nightclubs, and social associations. Un club de foot ('a football club') and un club de nuit ('a nightclub') are typical uses. In French, associations can also be called association or cercle, but club is standard in sporting contexts. The plural is clubs.
