Usage Note
Cholestérol is used in the same medical sense as English 'cholesterol'. French speakers distinguish le bon cholestérol (HDL) from le mauvais cholestérol (LDL), just as in English. It is always masculine and has no plural in standard use.
Examples
"Son taux de cholestérol est trop élevé."
Natural Translation
His cholesterol level is too high.
