Usage Note
Briquet refers to a cigarette lighter. The final -t is silent. Historically the word described a flint-and-steel fire-starting tool; the modern gas lighter inherited the name. Avoir du feu ('to have a light') is the polite phrase for asking someone for a light.
Examples
"Il a allumé sa cigarette avec son briquet."
Natural Translation
He lit his cigarette with his lighter.
