Veinard is a colloquial, affectionate term for someone who is lucky: quel veinard! ('lucky devil!'). The feminine is veinarde. It comes from veine in the familiar sense of luck (avoir de la veine — 'to be lucky'). The tone is almost always playful rather than envious.
