Triompher is typically intransitive and takes de when naming what is overcome: triompher de ses ennemis (to triumph over one's enemies). The noun triomphe shares the root, as does porter quelqu'un en triomphe (to carry someone in triumph). An 'arc de triomphe' is literally a triumphal arch.
