Usage Note
Tout as a noun (masculine singular) means 'the whole' or 'everything', as in le tout (the whole thing) or pas du tout (not at all). As a determiner it agrees in gender and number (tout, toute, tous, toutes). The expression tout à fait means absolutely or quite.
