Usage Note
Tchèque functions as both an adjective (la langue tchèque, 'the Czech language') and a noun (un Tchèque, 'a Czech person'). As a noun referring to a person, it is capitalised; as an adjective it is lowercase. The noun le tchèque (lowercase) also refers to the Czech language. The Czech Republic is called la République tchèque or, since 2016, la Tchéquie.
