Susceptible in French most commonly means easily offended or oversensitive — il est très susceptible ('he is very touchy'). It is also used formally to mean 'liable to' or 'capable of' — susceptible d'évoluer ('liable to change'). This second sense is close to English 'susceptible' but the primary everyday meaning is the opposite of the English one — a notable false friend.
