Usage Note

Stable is invariable for both genders (un poste stable, une situation stable). It applies to physical equilibrium, emotional steadiness, or economic conditions. The noun stabilité and the verb stabiliser are close derivatives. Note: do not confuse with the noun une écurie ('stable' for horses).
