Usage Note
Scout in French refers to a member of the scouting movement (les scouts de France is the main Catholic federation). The feminine une scoute is used, though un scout is applied generically regardless of gender in many contexts. The adjective scoute also exists: une activité scoute. French scouting has strong Catholic roots, making it culturally distinct from, say, its British counterpart.
Examples
