Also means
sturdy
Usage Note
Robuste is invariable for gender (same form masculine and feminine) and describes physical sturdiness or reliable performance — of people, objects, and systems alike. It is a false friend trap for English speakers only in register: in French it can sound more formal or technical than 'robust' does in everyday English. Une constitution robuste means a strong physical constitution.
Examples
"Il faut un matériau robuste pour ce travail."
Natural Translation
You need a robust material for this job.
