reporter

to postpone

verb ruh-por-TAY Rare

Also means

to carry forward

Usage Note

Reporter means to put off to a later date (reporter une réunion = to reschedule a meeting) or, in accounting, to carry forward a figure. As a reflexive se reporter à, it means to refer back to something (se reporter au chapitre précédent = refer to the previous chapter). Do not confuse with the English-borrowed noun reporter (journalist), which is also used in French.

Examples

"On a reporté la réunion à jeudi."

Natural Translation

We postponed the meeting to Thursday.
