radieux

radiant, dazzling; glorious (weather)

adjective ra-DYUH Rare

Origin: From Latin radiare (to shine, to radiate), from radius (ray)

Usage Note

Radieux describes both a person glowing with happiness (un sourire radieux — a radiant smile) and gloriously sunny weather (un temps radieux). The feminine form is radieuse. The adverb radieusement exists but is rarely used; context usually makes the adjective sufficient.

Examples

"Elle avait un visage radieux ce matin."

Natural Translation

She had a radiant face this morning.
