Usage Note
Précédemment is used in formal writing and speech to refer back to something stated or done earlier. It is more formal than avant or auparavant. Note the spelling: despite the root précédent, the adverb ends in -emment (pronounced '-ah-mahn'), following the standard rule for adjectives ending in -ent.
Examples
"Comme mentionné précédemment, le projet est en pause."
Natural Translation
As mentioned previously, the project is on hold.
