Usage Note

Pressentir means to feel or sense something intuitively before it happens, stronger than simply sentir. It is also used formally to mean 'to approach someone discreetly to sound them out' for a role or position (pressentir quelqu'un pour un poste). The related noun is pressentiment ('premonition, foreboding').
