possible

possible

adjective poh-SEE-bluh Common

Usage Note

Possible is used similarly to English 'possible', but watch for the French construction il est possible que + subjunctive, which has no direct English parallel requiring a mood shift. The superlative phrase le plus possible (as much as possible) is common and useful. Pas possible! is a colloquial exclamation of disbelief.

Examples

"Est-ce que c'est possible?"

Is-it that it-is possible
