Usage Note

Nageoire derives from nager ('to swim') and refers to the fins of fish or the flippers of marine animals. Nageoire dorsale is the 'dorsal fin', and nageoire caudale the 'tail fin'. Do not confuse it with palme, which means a diver's flipper.
