Mouiller is the everyday verb for getting something wet; se mouiller means 'to get wet' or, colloquially, 'to stick your neck out' (take a risk). The past participle mouillé doubles as an adjective meaning 'wet'. Sailors use mouiller l'ancre to mean 'to drop anchor'.
