Usage Note
Moquerie derives from se moquer de (to make fun of) and denotes an act or remark designed to ridicule. The plural moqueries is common: essuyer des moqueries means to endure mockery. Unlike ironie, which can be affectionate, moquerie always carries a belittling tone. The adjective moqueur (mocking) is a useful related word.
