Minimiser is a regular -er verb and a near-transparent cognate. It is often used in contexts of underestimating risks or downplaying problems: minimiser les risques ('to downplay the risks'). The opposite is exagérer or amplifier. In computing contexts it also means 'to minimise' a window, matching the English technical use.
