Usage Note
Mari is the everyday word for husband, while époux is the formal or legal equivalent (used in official documents and ceremony). The feminine counterpart is femme (also meaning 'woman') or formally épouse. Note that marier means 'to marry off' — to say 'I got married' you use se marier.
