judiciaire

judicial

adjective zhoo-dee-SYEHR Less Common

Usage Note

Judiciaire describes anything belonging to the court system or legal proceedings; le système judiciaire means 'the judicial system'. Do not confuse it with judicieux ('judicious, sensible'), which is a common false-friend trap. It is invariable in gender but adds -s in the plural.

Examples

"La procédure judiciaire est longue."

Natural Translation

The judicial process is lengthy.
