Usage Note
Inculpation is a formal legal term for the act of charging someone with an offence. Under French procedural law it has largely been replaced by mise en examen since the 1993 reform, though inculpation remains in everyday usage. The verb is inculper; the person charged is l'inculpé / l'inculpée.
