Usage Note

Funèbre describes anything associated with death, mourning, or a deeply gloomy atmosphere. Marche funèbre ('funeral march') is a fixed musical term. In informal use it can describe a very dull or depressing atmosphere: une ambiance funèbre. It does not change for feminine.
