Fiançailles is always plural in French — there is no singular form in standard use. The engaged couple are les fiancés (m pl) or les fiancées (f pl). The verb is se fiancer (to get engaged). Do not confuse les fiançailles (the engagement period) with la bague de fiançailles (engagement ring).
