Usage Note
existant is the present participle of exister used adjectivally. It agrees in gender and number: existante, existants, existantes. It typically qualifies infrastructure, laws, or systems already in place — le cadre légal existant ('the existing legal framework'). Do not confuse with exister used as a verb in a relative clause.
Examples
"Ils ont amélioré les infrastructures existantes."
Natural Translation
They improved the existing infrastructure.
