Usage Note
Escouade originally meant a small military unit of eight to twelve soldiers, and retains a military flavour. In modern French it can also refer informally to any small working group. Do not confuse it with équipe (team), which is the everyday word for a sports or work team.
Examples
"Une escouade de soldats patrouillait la zone."
Natural Translation
A squad of soldiers was patrolling the area.
