Usage Note

Enrhumer is almost exclusively used in its reflexive form s'enrhumer, meaning to catch a cold. Je me suis enrhumé means 'I caught a cold'. The direct transitive use (le froid m'a enrhumé) exists but is less common. The underlying noun is un rhume (a cold).
