Enivrant derives from enivrer (to intoxicate) and is used both literally of alcohol and figuratively of experiences that overwhelm the senses, such as a perfume or a crowd's atmosphere. The feminine form is enivrante. Un parfum enivrant (a heady perfume) is a classic literary collocation.
