Usage Note
Dodo is the word used with young children for sleep or bedtime — aller faire dodo means 'to go to sleep.' It is an example of French 'baby talk' (langage enfantin) and would sound odd in adult conversation. The extinct bird 'dodo' is also called dodo in French, but context always distinguishes them.
Examples
"C'est l'heure du dodo, mon chéri."
Natural Translation
It's bedtime, sweetheart.
Literal Translation
It's the hour of dodo, my darling.
