accroc

snag

noun ah-KRO Rare

Also means

tear (in fabric)

Usage Note

Accroc literally means a tear or rip in cloth, and by extension any hitch or complication in a plan — sans accroc ('without a hitch') is a very common fixed phrase. The final c is silent. Do not confuse with the adjective accro (short for accroché), meaning 'hooked on' or 'addicted'.

Examples

"Le déménagement s'est passé sans accroc."

Natural Translation

The move went without a hitch.
