Usage Note

Demi-lune describes any object or architectural feature shaped like a half-circle — a table demi-lune is a narrow half-round console table, and in fortification a demi-lune was a detached outwork in front of a gate. The plural is demi-lunes. As an adjective it is invariable: des fenêtres demi-lune.
