Usage Note

Copie covers a physical copy, a school essay or exam paper (rendre sa copie means 'to hand in one's paper'), and a reproduction of a work of art. The verb copier means 'to copy', and copieur is both a photocopier and a word for someone who cheats by copying. Faire une copie de means 'to make a copy of'.
