Usage Note

Capuchon refers to a detachable or attached hood on a garment, as well as the cap of a pen or marker. Mettre son capuchon means 'to put one's hood up'. The Capuchins (les Capucins), a Franciscan order, take their name from the pointed hoods (cappuccio) they wear — the coffee drink cappuccino shares the same root.
