bouquet

bouquet, bunch of flowers

noun boo-KEH Rare

Also means

aroma, nose (of wine)

Usage Note

Bouquet covers a bundle of cut flowers (un bouquet de roses) and the complex aroma of wine (le bouquet d'un vin). In French the final -t is silent. The phrase c'est le bouquet ! is a sarcastic exclamation meaning 'that's the last straw!' or 'that tops it all!' — a useful colloquial register to know.

Examples

"Il lui a offert un bouquet de tulipes."

Natural Translation

He gave her a bouquet of tulips.
