bonder

to pack full; to fill to capacity

verb bohn-DEH Rare

Usage Note

Bonder means to fill a space completely, leaving no room. It is most often used in the passive or past participle: la salle était bondée ('the room was packed'). The adjective bondé(e) is far more common in everyday speech than the infinitive itself. A near-synonym is comble, used after faire salle comble for a sold-out venue.

Examples

"Le métro est bondé aux heures de pointe."

Natural Translation

The metro is packed at rush hour.
