beaux-parents

in-laws

noun boh-pah-RAHN Rare

Also means

parents-in-law

Usage Note

Beaux-parents is the standard collective term for both parents-in-law together; beau-père means father-in-law and belle-mère means mother-in-law individually. The same compounds also serve for step-parents, so context disambiguates. The plural pattern beaux-/belles- extends to beau-frère and belle-sœur for siblings-in-law.

Examples

"Mes beaux-parents arrivent ce soir."

Natural Translation

My in-laws are arriving tonight.
