Usage Note
Autobus is the full, somewhat formal word for a city bus; in everyday Parisian speech the shortened bus is far more common. The plural is also autobus (the final 's' is already present and the word is invariable in spelling). Car (or autocar) refers to a long-distance coach, not a city bus.
Examples
"Je prends l'autobus pour aller au travail."
Natural Translation
I take the bus to go to work.
