Usage Note
Éloigner means to move something or someone further away; the reflexive s'éloigner means to walk away or drift apart. Ne t'éloigne pas ('don't wander off') is a common parental warning. The adjective éloigné (distant, remote) is frequently used for places: une région éloignée.
