Also means
resonance
Usage Note
Écho is used both literally (a reflected sound) and figuratively, as in trouver un écho (to find a response or resonance) in someone's words. The Greek myth of the nymph Echo gives the word its name. In journalism, a short news brief is sometimes called an écho, reflecting its older sense of a reverberated piece of news.
Examples
"Son cri se perdit en écho dans la montagne."
Natural Translation
His cry was lost as an echo in the mountain.
