Usage Note

Tricot means both the craft of knitting and a knitted item such as a jumper or cardigan. Faire du tricot means to do knitting. In Quebec French, tricot is also an informal word for a T-shirt or jersey. The verb tricoter means to knit, and aiguilles à tricoter (knitting needles) are the tools used.
