Usage Note

Terminer is a regular -er verb meaning to finish or complete something (terminer un travail = to finish a job). Se terminer (reflexive) means 'to come to an end' or 'to end' (la réunion se termine à midi = the meeting ends at noon). The related noun terminal (f. terminale) gives French its word for the final year of secondary school, la terminale.
