Simagrée is almost always used in the plural (des simagrées) to describe theatrical, insincere gestures or false shows of emotion — 'making a scene' or 'putting on airs'. Arrête tes simagrées! ('Stop your play-acting!') is a common scolding expression. The singular is rare.
