Repentir is almost always used reflexively: se repentir de quelque chose ('to repent of something'). The noun le repentir means 'repentance'. It is more formal or literary than regretter ('to regret'), carrying a moral or religious weight. Se repentir implies a genuine change of heart, not just regret.
