Usage Note

Repasser is the standard verb for ironing clothes (repasser une chemise = to iron a shirt). It also means to come back or pass by again (je repasserai demain = I'll come by again tomorrow), and in academic contexts to resit an exam. The instrument for ironing is un fer à repasser.
