Usage Note

Remarquer means to notice or observe something, and also to point something out to someone. The reflexive se faire remarquer ('to get oneself noticed') often carries a negative connotation — drawing unwanted attention. The noun une remarque ('a remark, a comment') is directly related and very common in formal and academic French.
